In the first video of our Volvo Open 70 build series, CAMPER skipper Chris Nicholson takes us on a trip to Cookson Boat's build facility in Auckland, New Zealand, where the team's yacht is being examined for the first time by Volvo Ocean Race Chief Measurer, Sean Ritson.

In this video, filmed and produced by Hamish Hooper, CAMPER's Media Crew Member, Sean Ritson drills 50 millimetre holes in the team's brand new carbon fibre boat while Shore Team Manager Neil Cox explains the compliance process to meet the Volvo Ocean Race Rule. "From the mast to the keel, to the boat itself, and even to the sails, everything is stringently measured to the millimetre."
The measurement test was a defining moment for CAMPER and campaign managers Emirates Team New Zealand, since from this point onwards, every single part of the boat will be placed under the scrutiny of Volvo Ocean Race's measurers until the end of the race.
