Tricky winds today with a race sailed inside the Marmaris Gulf

The weather forecast for today was very promising with winds around 15 knots, something that would offer the chance at the more experienced crews, to show their skills. The first start was given at 11:00 and the majority of the fleet chose to keep close to shore, in order to benefit from the shifts.
First to round the upwind mark was HOOLIGAN VI, followed by BY FARR LEMON and both headed to the second mark. The wind was shifting continuously and the reach turned to be a downwind leg. The boats that preferred to keep close to the coastline were not favored because the pressure there was dying.
HOOLIGAN VI was one of them and that gave the chance to BY FAR LEMON, MAD X and COURRIER DU COEUR to gain some meters and round the second mark all together. BY FAR LEMON managed to get between HOOLIGAN VI and the mark and passed ahead. After that it was and easy task for her and she kept extending her lead and finished first.
The exceptional sailing by BY FAR LEMON gave her the first place in todays race in IRC 1 Class, having behind her MAD X in second and CANIM in third.
In IRC 2 division MATADOR was on top, in front of MATRIX and ARUNDEL. LETTLAND came first in IRC 3 with AVALON in second and ARMADOR in third. In IRC 4 Class, BOOMERANG was on top and behind her was ALLEGRO and JIGGERS.
At the charter fleet LZ YACHTING 1991 is leading in IRC CHR 1 and MAD COW is behind her with HAKUNA MATATA in third. MARTLET is on top at IRC CHR 2 and YUKSEL D3 is second in front of LORELEY.
In IRC CHR 3, PERSEY is first, SCHNECKE is second and THEMIS is third. Finally, ATILLA II is first and YUKSEL 35 second and WHITE PEPPER third.
After the race a costume contest followed with some teams performing at the stage and giving a funny and entertaining show for the rest of the sailors.
Tomorrow is the final day of racing and all the teams are ready to claim the trophy. Stay tuned to find the winner of the 22nd Marmaris International Race Week!
