//Press Release: Icarus Sailing Media for SYWC//
The 32nd Student Yachting World Cup ended this evening. Bad weather conditions have prevented the participants from competing to the 14th course of the week, but the general good atmosphere didn’t suffer from this.
This new notification has provided the World a new Champion: University College of Dublin, from Ireland! Canada and Italy, 2nd and 3rd of this edition, can also be very proud of their week, as they provided us with an intense battle!
The closing ceremony, at the City Hall with the Mayor from La Rochelle and the commander-in-chief of Ecole Polytechnique, was the opportunity for everybody to gather and thank the organisation for this amazing week. The best teams received also presents from ROCHET Watches for the AGPM Trophy and the World Champion Title.
This night will be the last one, and all crews will gather to celebrate the end of the competition and to congratulate the new World Champions.

Strong winds and heavy clouds were the scenery today, here in La Rochelle. From early morning the weather showed its intentions and the race committee decided not to go against it. At the skippers briefing, already around 10 am, they announced to the students that all racing was suspended for the day. The wind speed at that moment was averaging 25 knots at the race area and it was maxing out to 35 at the gusts.
The safety of the sailors and that of the boats were their main concerns and the competitors seemed to be on the same page with them. No objections were opposed and everyone seized the chance to relax or visit the beautiful city of La Rochelle.
Tomorrow is the last day of the Student Yachting World Cup and the forecast does not seem to improve. Although many are those that thirst for races in order to improve their position. After all the history of this Cup is great and going back home with it, is not to be granted.
