Leg 2 starts today: Here’s how you can follow it

Climbing up Table Mountain. Going on safari. Drinking the local wines, surfing the local waves, eating springbok steaks, cruising the V&A Waterfront shops.
After a proper South African break, it’s time for the sailors to go back to what they do best – sailing.
Leg 2 from Cape Town to Abu Dhabi starts tomorrow at 18:00 local time (16:00 UTC), and it’s going to be a long one.
You want to wave all of them good-bye as they embark on their 6,125 nautical mile journey?
That’s very kind of you, and it’s absolutely possible – whether you’re on site or online.
If you’re online: Visit our app, website or You Tube channel and watch the live video stream from 17:50 until 18:05 local. The commentators? Mark Covell, a former Olympic sailor and sailing partner of Ian Walker, and Niall Myant.

Follow us on Twitter. Our writers will be with the sailors, following them on the dock and on the water, and behind our computer screens too.
Our photographers will send pictures live from the sky and on the water. Don’t miss them – they’ll be immediately visible on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, the app and the website.
If you’re in Cape Town: Come visit the race village at the V&A Waterfront and watch the departure of the fleet! It’s is free to enter and opens at 11:00 local. The Sailors Parade starts at 15:10 and the boats will dock out from 16:00 on. The show will continue to follow the racing on the big screens until the boats are out of range.
Put a warm, waterproof jacket on, and head down to the beach. You can see the Leg start and watch the boats sail the inshore part of the course for about an hour from the Bloubergstrand and Big Bay beaches on the north side, and the Green Point beach in the south.
Read, watch, enjoy – we’ll be posting all day on all our platforms. After all, these guys and girls won’t hit the ground for almost a month so we’re making the most of it…
And don’t forget you can join them out there on the racecourse too – at least, virtually! Sign up for the game and you can still be in to win a trip to one of our stopovers – there’s still time!
